Yesterday Google among other things, revealed their new AI product "Duet AI", at the Google Next conference in San Francisco yesterday.

I believe this is yet another testament to why Google does not penalize AI content in the search rankings, despite the concerns among many SEOs.

Google Duet AI introduced across the Google suite

Google Duet AI is being integrated into various Google Workspace apps, and looks quite cool.

Googles own example of Duet AI inside Google Docs

Some of the tools where Duet AI will be available now are:

  • Gmail
  • Google Docs
  • Google Slides
  • Google Sheets
  • Google Meet

The AI-powered tool is designed to enhance collaboration and productivity for users.

One of the key benefits of Duet AI is its ability to assist with writing, according to Google.

How Google mention the writing content part in their "Google Workspace Update"

Whether it's drafting complete responses in Gmail or starting a new document in Google Docs, Duet AI provides contextual suggestions and prompts to help users write more efficiently and effectively.

This feature is also available on mobile devices, allowing users to draft responses on the go.

In addition to writing assistance, Duet AI can also generate original images for Google Slides presentations.

By simply providing a few words as a prompt, users can create compelling visuals that convey their unique artistic vision. This saves time and effort in the manual process of creating visuals for presentations.

For data analysis and organization, Duet AI offers automated data classification and creating custom plans in Google Sheets.

This is re-assuring news for SEOs generating AI content

That Google now fully integrating AI generation inside their productivity products is a testament to Google's standing behind AI content.

AI assistance is becoming more and more integrated into the generation of content. And saying what content is "AI content" and what is "human content" will be a more and more difficult discussion as AI assistance will be integrated everywhere.

And detecting "AI content" will be even harder to detect, if one would want to do that in the future.

And when Google with one hand now themself offering AI writing of content, it would be weird if they one the other downranked such content.

It comes down to whether the content is helpful and meeting the search intent the user might have.

Rewarding high-quality content, however it is produced
Google's ranking systems aim to reward original, high-quality content that demonstrates qualities of what we call E-E-A-T: expertise, experience, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness.

Google now mentions and points to some of the generic AI content platforms in their description of Duet AI and how they work together with 3rd parties.

Again, this does not seem like something you would do if you at the same time downrank content being created with these platforms.

What is then good SEO content in the days of AI writing?

Good SEO content in the days of AI writing is still focused on providing value to the user and meeting their search intent. While AI can assist in generating content, it's important to remember that the quality and relevance of the content are what matter most.

Here are some key factors to consider when creating SEO content in the era of AI writing:

  1. Expertise and Authority: Ensure that your content demonstrates expertise in the subject matter and establishes your authority as a reliable source of information. This can be achieved through in-depth research, citing credible sources, and presenting accurate and up-to-date information.
  2. Unique Value: Aim to provide unique value to your audience. While AI may assist in generating content, it's important to add your own perspective and insights to make the content stand out. Offer a fresh take on the topic or provide unique examples, case studies, or personal experiences that add value to the reader.
  3. User Search Intent: Understand the intent behind the user's search query and create content that directly addresses their needs. AI can assist in generating content, but it's up to you to ensure that the content aligns with the user's search intent and provides a relevant and helpful solution or answer.
  4. Engaging and Readable: Even with AI-generated content, it's crucial to prioritize readability and engagement. Make sure the content is well-structured, easy to read, and includes headings, bullet points, and other formatting elements to enhance readability.
  5. Keyword Optimization: While AI can help in identifying relevant keywords, it's important to use them strategically and naturally throughout the content. Avoid keyword stuffing and focus on incorporating the keywords in a way that enhances the overall quality and relevance of the content.
  6. Regular Updates: Keep your content up-to-date and relevant. AI-generated content can provide a good starting point, but it's important to regularly review and update the content to ensure its accuracy and freshness. This includes updating information, incorporating new insights, and addressing any changes or developments in the topic.

In conclusion, while AI can assist in generating content, the key to creating good SEO content remains the same: focus on providing value, relevance, and a great user experience.

By incorporating these considerations into your content creation process, you can ensure that your content stands out in the era of AI writing and continues to rank well in search results.
